Weeks 7-10

Theater Technique and Tableau Development

Students deepen their tableau work as the teacher introduces the concept of STATUS in theater. Students apply the concept of status to their tableau work, and add status criteria to existing physicality chart/rubrics. Small groups rehearse their tableau scenes and continue working with their director who records and leads feedback sessions focused on status and physicality criteria. Students continue this process as they layer in the concept of character objective into their tableau work and set rehearsal goals. Directors will complete the final staging of the tableaus and build the actors’ awareness of how their character’s facial and physical expressions convey emotion, intention and change in the scenes. Each group will observe another group’s recorded scene rehearsal and record their feedback for that group on Explain Everything. Each group will use this feedback for to inform their final revision.
